Ukraine Division
The Salvation Army has been serving in Ukraine since 1993, establishing its presence through seven corps across the country. Over the years, its ministry has adapted to the changing needs of the country, especially as communities face the ongoing challenges of war, personal loss, and uncertainty about the future. Despite these hardships, the Salvation Army remains steadfast in its mission, guided by its motto: “Heart to God, hand to man!” This principle underpins their wide range of programs and projects, ensuring that kindness and mercy are extended to all in need.
Central to the Salvation Army’s outreach in Ukraine are several specialized ministries, including Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Scout Ministry, and the Divisional Prayer Coordinator. Each program addresses specific needs within the community, fostering spiritual growth, camaraderie, and resilience. Initiatives like the Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT) program and Emergency Response Coordination further highlight the Army’s commitment to holistic care and rapid support in times of crisis.
During the harsh Ukrainian winters, the Salvation Army provides hot meals to homeless women, exemplifying their compassion in action. The extended day group project for schoolchildren, led by professional teachers, offers safe spaces and educational support during trying times. Through these and many other avenues of service, the Salvation Army in Ukraine continues to uplift, support, and inspire individuals, helping them navigate some of the most difficult days with hope and dignity.
