Design for Life 2016 in Ukraine

In September, The Salvation Army in Ukraine  held an event “Design for Life” in the town of Irpin near Kyiv. There were 24 delegates and 10 team members present. The aim of the event was to find people willing to devote their lives to serving Jesus Christ, as well as people who might become officers of The Salvation Army in future and help others to understand their calling to serve the Lord.

Guest speakers were invited from Holland (Mariska Potters), Moldova (Galina Burlacu and Elina Jakubovska), Ukraine (officers Irina Shvab, Dniil Lukin, Svetlana Bochkareva, and divisional leaders Biat and Annette Rieder-Pell) and Georgia (Rezo Bakhtadze).

This event took place in a trusting and friendly atmosphere. There was a prayer room, where each attendee could spend some time in prayer and meditation throughout the weekend. There were also activities in small groups to facilitate more effective communication and increased attention to the personality of each delegate.

All the delegates had an opportunity to examine their lives, their skills and spiritual gifts. They could look at their lives from a fresh perspective, escaping their everyday routine and focusing on the plans and desires of their inner world.

The event had a positive impact on the life of each delegate. It will also help them respond to the Lord’s calling when it happens.
